Eric Trope will begin his eighth season with the Miami City Ballet this August. He previously danced with the Pennsylvania Ballet for four seasons and trained at the School of American Ballet. Some of his featured roles with the company include Riff in Robbins' West Side Story Suite, Phlegmatic in Balanchine's The Four Temperaments, Johnny in Taylor's Company B, Taylor in Peck's Rodeo, and the Paul Taylor solo in Balanchine's Episodes. Eric also originated roles in Peck's Heatscape, Ratmansky's The Fairy's Kiss and Neenan's At Various Points. He has toured extensively with the company including the David H. Koch (NY State) Theater in Lincoln Center, the Music Center in LA, and the National Arts Centre in Ottawa.
Trope is also a choreographer. His latest work was presented at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts as part of the finale of the prestigious Mainly Mozart Festival in the summer of 2019. He was also selected to participate in the 2017 Fall Session of the New York Choreographic Institute, an affiliate of the New York City Ballet. He was recently commissioned for a work at the Nantucket Atheneum Dance Festival for the summer of 2021.
Trope participated in a dance workshop in the summer of 2018 for Steven Spielberg's remake of West Side Story.
