Felipe Diaz is a former Soloist dancer with the San Francisco Ballet, Dutch National Ballet, and English National Ballet. Mr. Diaz was born in Bogota, Colombia, where he began his training with his parents Ana Consuelo Gomez and Jaime Diaz. He then continued his training at the San Francisco Ballet School.
Over a career spanning 22 years, Diaz has danced as a soloist with San Francisco Ballet, The English National Ballet, and The Dutch National Ballet. He has performed numerous lead roles including the Prince in Ashton’s Cinderella, Basilio in Ratmansky’s Don Quixote, the Cavalier in Christensen/Tomasson’s Nutcracker and the Eagling/van Schaik production, James in La Sylphide, Lensky in Cranko’s Onegin, Petrouschka in Petrouschka, Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet, and leading roles in works by renowned choreographers such as George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Harald Lander, Helgi Tomasson, Christopher Wheeldon, Hans van Manen, Alexei Ratmansky, and William Forsythe, among others.
After retiring from the stage, Mr. Diaz began working as a ballet master for the Dutch National Ballet and has been a guest teacher with ABT, Boston Ballet, National Ballet of Canada, The Royal Ballet, Berlin Staatsoper Ballet, Royal Swedish Ballet, Finnish National Ballet, Dutch National Ballet, Norwegian National Ballet. He assumed the title of ballet master at San Francisco Ballet in 2013.
